“For he is our peace, who hath made both one, and hath broken down the middle wall of partition between us;”Ephesians 2:14

“Then goeth he, and taketh with himself seven other spirits more wicked than himself… and the last state of that man is worse than the first.”Matthew 12:45

Jesus Christ is the great Wall Breaker. According to Ephesians 2:14, He tears down the barrier — between God and man, between bondage and liberty. What sin built, Christ demolished. What separated, He reconciled.

But Matthew 12:43–45 gives a solemn warning: it is not enough for the wall to come down — something must move in.

An unclean spirit cast out leaves an empty house. If that house is not filled with Christ, truth, and righteousness, the enemy returns with greater force. The danger is not just bondage — but emptiness after deliverance. A broken wall without a new occupant becomes an open gate.

Saul — 1 Samuel 16:14

“But the Spirit of the LORD departed from Saul, and an evil spirit from the LORD troubled him.”

God removed His presence from Saul because of disobedience. The “wall” of protection came down — but Saul never repented, never returned to God. Instead of being filled with the Spirit, he became a vessel of torment. An empty throne in the heart became a seat for an evil spirit.

The Cleansed Man — Matthew 12:43–45

Jesus describes a man delivered, but not transformed. The spirit leaves, but the house remains “empty, swept, and garnished.”

  • No indwelling Christ.
  • No spiritual occupation.
  • No guarding truth.

The result: seven spirits return — worse bondage than before.

Christ breaks the wall — but you must fill the house.
Deliverance must be followed by discipleship.
Freedom must be guarded by fullness.

Colossians 3:16“Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly…”

It is not enough to be emptied of sin — you must be filled with the Saviour.
