“For her house inclineth unto death, and her paths unto the dead.” — Proverbs 2:18
“But he knoweth not that the dead are there; and that her guests are in the depths of hell.” — Proverbs 9:18
“Can a man take fire in his bosom, and his clothes not be burned?” — Proverbs 6:27
These verses warn that sinful attraction never stays small. Lust and secret compromise promise pleasure, but lead downward into spiritual death, bondage, and destruction. Sin never advertises the pit at the end of the road.
The strange woman in Proverbs represents temptation that appeals to the flesh while quietly destroying discernment, purity, peace, and fellowship with God. Fire cannot be held without consequences. Hidden sin always burns deeper than expected.
Samson — Judges 16
Samson believed he could handle Delilah and still keep his strength. Little by little his discernment weakened until his eyes were put out and he lost his power with God. What began as attraction ended in bondage and shame.
“He wist not that the LORD was departed from him.” — Judges 16:20
The Prodigal Son — Luke 15
The prodigal son followed fleshly desires into a far country. Sin promised freedom and pleasure, but left him empty, broken, and feeding swine. The path of lust and self-will always takes farther than intended and costs more than expected.
The safest place for a believer is close to Christ, walking in truth before temptation becomes a pit too deep to escape.
