“And it was given unto him to make war with the saints, and to overcome them: and power was given him over all kindreds, and tongues, and nations.”Revelation 13:7

“Ye are of your father the devil, and the lusts of your father ye will do. He was a murderer from the beginning, and abode not in the truth, because there is no truth in him. When he speaketh a lie, he speaketh of his own: for he is a liar, and the father of it.”John 8:44

The devil has always been at war against God and His people. In Revelation 13:7, his hatred reaches its highest point through the Antichrist, making open war against the saints. In John 8:44, Jesus uncovers the root of Satan’s character—he is both a murderer and a liar. That tells us his warfare is twofold: he destroys by violence and deceives by falsehood. Before he strikes outwardly, he works inwardly by corrupting truth.

This reminds us that every spiritual battle begins with a battle over truth. Satan attacked Eve with a lie before sin entered the world, and he still works the same way today. He seeks to weaken convictions, distort doctrine, and discourage believers. If he cannot take your soul, he will target your peace, your testimony, and your usefulness.

Saul: A Weapon in the Enemy’s Hand

“And it came to pass on the morrow, that the evil spirit from God came upon Saul, and he prophesied in the midst of the house: and David played with his hand, as at other times: and there was a javelin in Saul’s hand. And Saul cast the javelin; for he said, I will smite David even to the wall with it. And David avoided out of his presence twice.”1 Samuel 18:10-11

Saul became a weapon in the hand of the enemy against David. Jealousy opened the door for satanic influence. When God’s hand is on your life, expect hell’s hand against you.

Herod: Opposition to a Growing Work

“Now about that time Herod the king stretched forth his hands to vex certain of the church. And he killed James the brother of John with the sword.”Acts 12:1-2

Herod Agrippa attacked the church because the gospel was advancing. Satan always opposes what God is blessing. The greater the work, the greater the warfare.

The devil’s war is real, but it is limited. Revelation says “it was given unto him”—meaning even Satan operates on a leash under God’s sovereignty. He may attack, but he cannot move beyond God’s permission.

So stand fast.
Hold the truth.
And remember—

“Greater is he that is in you, than he that is in the world.”1 John 4:4
