“And Baasha king of Israel went up against Judah, and built Ramah, that he might not suffer any to go out or come in to Asa king of Judah.”1 Kings 15:17

“(For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal, but mighty through God to the pulling down of strong holds;)”2 Corinthians 10:4

Baasha built Ramah as a blockade to stop movement in and out of Judah. Spiritually, this pictures how the enemy builds strongholds in a believer’s life to restrict liberty, hinder fellowship, and choke spiritual growth. A stronghold may be bitterness, pride, fear, lust, or unforgiveness. Satan’s goal is to cut off your movement with God.

But God reminds us that the battle is not won with fleshly weapons. Prayer, Scripture, faith, and obedience are mighty through God to tear down what the enemy has built. What the devil fortifies, God can demolish.

The question is: what Ramah has been built in your life?

Jericho: Walls That Fell God’s Way

Jericho was “straitly shut up” (Joshua 6:1), a fortified stronghold standing against Israel. Human strength could not take it. But when Israel obeyed God’s strange plan—marching and shouting—the walls fell flat. Strongholds come down God’s way, not man’s way.

Gadara: Chains No Man Could Break

The maniac of Gadara (Mark 5:1-15) was held captive by a spiritual stronghold of devils. Chains could not bind him, and men could not help him. But one word from Jesus broke the bondage and set him free. What no man can break, Christ can.

Satan builds strongholds—
but Christ still tears them down.
