“The secret of the LORD is with them that fear him; and he will shew them his covenant.” — Psalm 25:14
“For the froward is abomination to the LORD: but his secret is with the righteous.” — Proverbs 3:32
God does not reveal His mind to everyone — He reserves His “secret” for a certain kind of person. Both verses teach the same truth:
- It is not intelligence that gains God’s counsel.
- It is not position that gains God’s insight.
- It is reverence and righteousness that bring you into God’s inner circle.
The word “secret” speaks of intimate counsel, confidential communication, and divine direction. God does not broadcast His will — He shares it with those who walk right and fear Him. The froward (crooked, resistant heart) is shut out… but the righteous (upright, submitted heart) is brought in.
Abraham — God Shares His Plan
Genesis 18:17 — “And the LORD said, Shall I hide from Abraham that thing which I do?”
Abraham walked with God in faith and obedience. Because of that, God revealed His plan concerning Sodom before it happened.
Principle: God trusted Abraham with His secret because Abraham walked uprightly before Him.
The Disciples — Given Understanding
John 15:15 — “Henceforth I call you not servants… but I have called you friends; for all things that I have heard of my Father I have made known unto you.”
While the crowds heard parables, the disciples received the meaning. Why? They followed, submitted, and stayed near Christ. Closeness and obedience brought them into greater revelation.
If you want God’s direction, don’t chase information — pursue a right heart.
- Fear Him.
- Walk uprightly.
- Remove what is crooked.
Because: God’s secrets are not for the curious… they are for the consecrated.
