“And David behaved himself wisely in all his ways; and the LORD was with him.” — 1 Samuel 18:14
“Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you: and, lo, I am with you alway, even unto the end of the world. Amen.” — Matthew 28:20
The secret of David’s strength was not merely his ability, courage, or experience — it was the presence of God upon his life. Saul had the throne, the army, and the position, but David had the Lord. When God is with a man, He gives wisdom for decisions, strength for battles, and grace under pressure.
Jesus gave the same promise to His disciples before sending them into the world. Christ never promised an easy road, but He did promise His presence. The presence of God does not remove every storm, but it gives peace, direction, and endurance in the middle of the storm.
Joseph — God’s Presence in Affliction
“And the LORD was with Joseph, and he was a prosperous man; and he was in the house of his master the Egyptian.” — Genesis 39:2
Joseph was betrayed, sold, falsely accused, and imprisoned, yet God’s presence caused him to prosper even in affliction. The prison could not remove the blessing of God from his life.
Paul — Strengthened by Christ’s Presence
“Notwithstanding the Lord stood with me, and strengthened me; that by me the preaching might be fully known, and that all the Gentiles might hear: and I was delivered out of the mouth of the lion.” — 2 Timothy 4:17
Others forsook Paul, but Christ remained faithful. God’s presence strengthened him to continue preaching even in loneliness and persecution.
A Christian can lose comfort, popularity, or earthly security — but if the Lord is with him, he still possesses the greatest treasure of all.
