“Who redeemeth thy life from destruction; who crowneth thee with lovingkindness and tender mercies;” — Psalm 103:4
“Blessed is the man that endureth temptation: for when he is tried, he shall receive the crown of life, which the Lord hath promised to them that love him.” — James 1:12
There is a divine pattern in Scripture: God redeems… then God rewards. He brings you out of destruction, then brings you into a crown.
Redeemed from the Pit — Psalm 103:4
“Who redeemeth thy life from destruction…” God does not just improve a man — He rescues him. From sin. From ruin. From self-destruction.
Joseph — Genesis 37–50
Joseph was cast into a pit, sold into slavery, falsely accused, and imprisoned. His life looked like destruction. But God redeemed his life, raising him to be ruler in Egypt. The same man who was in the pit… ended up in the palace.
Crowned with Mercy — Psalm 103:4
“…who crowneth thee with lovingkindness and tender mercies;” God doesn’t just deliver you. He dignifies you. He places a crown of mercy where there was once shame.
Joseph again: From prisoner’s chains, to Pharaoh’s ring. From forgotten, to favored. God crowned him, not with revenge, but with mercy and purpose.
Rewarded After the Trial — James 1:12
“…when he is tried, he shall receive the crown of life…” Endurance is the bridge between deliverance and reward. Trials prove your love for God. Faithfulness leads to a crown.
Apostle Paul — 2 Timothy 4:7-8
Paul endured persecution, imprisonment, and beatings. Yet at the end he said: “I have fought a good fight… there is laid up for me a crown of righteousness…” He was beaten on earth — but crowned in heaven.
The Principle: God brings you out of destruction… so He can bring you into reward.
But the crown only comes to those who endure the trial.
