“Marriage is honourable in all, and the bed undefiled: but whoremongers and adulterers God will judge.”Hebrews 13:4

“Nevertheless to avoid fornication, let every man have his own wife, and let every woman have her own husband.”1 Corinthians 7:2

God established marriage as a holy covenant between one man and one woman. Marriage is not merely a social arrangement but a divine institution designed to provide companionship, purity, and protection from sexual sin. In a world that dishonors God’s design, believers are called to honor marriage, remain faithful to their spouse, and keep their relationship pure before the Lord. The marriage covenant reflects God’s faithfulness and should be treated with reverence and respect.

Isaac and Rebekah

When Isaac received Rebekah as his wife, he accepted her according to God’s plan and covenant. Genesis 24:67“And Isaac brought her into his mother Sarah’s tent, and took Rebekah, and she became his wife; and he loved her…” Their relationship illustrates God’s design for a committed, honorable marriage built upon God’s leading rather than fleshly desires.

Joseph and Mary

Joseph demonstrated purity, restraint, and honor toward Mary even before their marriage was fully established. Matthew 1:24-25“Then Joseph being raised from sleep did as the angel of the Lord had bidden him, and took unto him his wife: And knew her not till she had brought forth her firstborn son…” Joseph honored God’s order and treated Mary with purity and respect, providing an example of obedience and faithfulness within God’s design for marriage.

Marriage is to be honored, not neglected; protected, not polluted. God’s plan for purity is not restriction but protection. A husband and wife who remain faithful to one another testify to the faithfulness of God Himself. Let us guard our hearts, honor our marriage vows, and live in purity before the Lord.
