“Then are they glad because they be quiet; so he bringeth them unto their desired haven.” — Psalm 107:30

“Then they willingly received him into the ship: and immediately the ship was at the land whither they went.” — John 6:21

When Christ enters the storm, the storm loses its power. Psalm 107 describes sailors terrified by waves that lift them “up to the heaven” and drive them “down again to the depths.” But when they cry unto the Lord, He calms the storm and brings them to their desired haven. Their chaos becomes quiet, and God Himself guides the vessel.

John 6 records the same truth in the life of the disciples. Tossed by a violent wind on the Sea of Galilee, they feared until Jesus came walking on the water. But when they “willingly received Him into the ship,” Scripture says “immediately” they were at the shore. The moment Christ was welcomed, the problem ended and the destination was reached.

The principle is simple and powerful: When Christ is received, storms are quieted and progress becomes supernatural. He brings us to the place we could never reach in our own strength.

Jonah (Jonah 1–2). Jonah ran from God and brought a storm into every life around him. But when he finally called upon the Lord from the great fish, God spoke peace to the situation. The storm ceased, the fish released him, and he was placed back on the shore—exactly where God wanted him. Like Psalm 107, when Jonah cried unto the Lord, the chaos broke and the journey resumed.

Paul in the Tempest (Acts 27). Paul’s ship faced a storm so severe that all hope was taken away. But Paul trusted the God “whose I am, and whom I serve.” God stood by him in the night and promised deliverance. Though the ship broke apart, every soul reached land safely—God brought them to their haven. Even in destruction, Christ’s presence guaranteed direction and arrival.

When the storm is loud, invite Christ into the ship. When the winds are contrary, receive His Word willingly. When you cannot see the shore, trust the One who controls it. The same Lord who quieted Psalm 107 and carried John 6 will guide you to your “desired haven.”
