“Behold, I will rain bread from heaven for you; and the people shall go out and gather a certain rate every day, that I may prove them, whether they will walk in my law, or no.” —Exodus 16:4

“…feed me with food convenient for me.” —Proverbs 30:8

God does not train His people to live on stored supply — He trains them to live on daily trust. Israel had to gather manna every day. Agur prayed for food convenient for him — just enough. Why? Because dependence is God’s classroom. Too little creates despair. Too much creates pride. But daily provision creates faith.

The Manna

Israel could not stockpile tomorrow’s bread. If they tried, it spoiled. “He that gathered much had nothing over…” (Exodus 16:18) God was teaching them: “I don’t want you trusting your storehouse — I want you trusting Me.”

Jesus said: “Give us this day our daily bread.” (Matthew 6:11). Not weekly. Not yearly. Daily.

Christ was teaching the same lesson as Exodus 16: Faith is not about abundance — it is about dependence. God may not give you everything you want — but He will always give you what you need, right on time. If He feeds you today, you can trust Him for tomorrow.
