“And I will feed the flock of slaughter, even you, O poor of the flock. And I took unto me two staves; the one I called Beauty, and the other I called Bands; and I fed the flock.”Zechariah 11:7

“And other sheep I have, which are not of this fold: them also I must bring, and they shall hear my voice; and there shall be one fold, and one shepherd.”John 10:16

In Zechariah 11:7, the Lord identifies Himself as the true Shepherd who feeds the flock — especially “the poor of the flock.” The two staves reveal His shepherding heart: Beauty (grace, favor, covenant kindness) and Bands (unity, binding together). Even when the flock is vulnerable, the Shepherd does not abandon them.

In John 10:16, Jesus declares the fulfillment of that shepherd promise. He will gather “other sheep” (Gentiles) so that all who hear His voice become one flock under one Shepherd. Unity is not organizational — it is spiritual, created by Christ’s voice and sustained by His care.

Joseph Gathering Jacob’s Family (Genesis 45–47)

Though scattered by famine and family conflict, God used Joseph to feed and preserve the house of Israel in Egypt. The same hand that provided bread also bound the family together again. The shepherding God fed the needy and united a broken flock — Beauty and Bands in action.

The Conversion of Cornelius (Acts 10–11)

Peter is sent to a Gentile household, and the Holy Ghost falls upon them as upon the Jews. God makes it clear: these “other sheep” belong to the same Shepherd. What God had joined, no man could divide. The flock became one — not by tradition, but by the Shepherd’s voice.

The mark of Christ’s shepherding is not merely provision, but unity under His voice. When we submit to the Shepherd, He feeds us with grace and binds us together in truth — one flock, one Shepherd.
