“These shall make war with the Lamb, and the Lamb shall overcome them: for he is Lord of lords, and King of kings: and they that are with him are called, and chosen, and faithful.” — Revelation 17:14
“Which in his times he shall shew, who is the blessed and only Potentate, the King of kings, and Lord of lords.” — 1 Timothy 6:15
Both passages lift our eyes above earthly power and passing authority to the unchallenged rule of Christ. Kings may rise, systems may resist Him, and the world may appear united against truth — but the outcome is already settled. The Lamb overcomes. He reigns not by permission, but by position. And those who stand with Him are not merely spectators; they are called, chosen, and faithful.
As we approach the New Year, this devotion reminds us that faithfulness is never wasted, even when opposition seems strong. Christ does not borrow authority — He is authority.
David and Goliath (1 Samuel 17)
Goliath stood as the champion of worldly strength, armed and confident. David appeared insignificant by comparison — yet he came “in the name of the LORD of hosts” (1 Sam. 17:45). The battle was decided not by size or weaponry, but by sovereignty. God’s chosen servant stands secure because the Lord reigns.
Christ Before Pilate (John 18:33–37)
Pilate questioned Jesus about His kingship, unaware that he stood before the very One who held ultimate authority. Jesus calmly declared, “My kingdom is not of this world.” Though appearing bound, Christ was never dethroned. The cross did not defeat Him — it crowned Him.
When the world opposes truth, remember who wins. Serve faithfully. Stand confidently. Follow the Lamb. He is still King of kings and Lord of lords — and those who are with Him will overcome.
