“And the Spirit of the Lord fell upon me, and said unto me, Speak; Thus saith the Lord; Thus have ye said, O house of Israel: for I know the things that come into your mind, every one of them.” — Ezekiel 11:5

“…for the Lord searcheth all hearts, and understandeth all the imaginations of the thoughts: if thou seek him, he will be found of thee; but if thou forsake him, he will cast thee off for ever.” — 1 Chronicles 28:9

God not only sees our actions—He searches the hidden motives behind them. The thoughts we think, the desires we hide, and the motives we justify are all laid open before Him. Nothing escapes His holy gaze. His knowledge is not to condemn but to correct and call us back to fellowship.

When the Spirit of the Lord came upon Ezekiel, He revealed that Israel’s outward worship masked inward rebellion. Likewise, David warned Solomon that God discerns the heart. True obedience begins not in public performance but in private purity. God deals with what man cannot see—what lies beneath the surface.

Achan’s Hidden Sin (Joshua 7): Achan secretly took the accursed thing and buried it beneath his tent. No one saw it—but God did. His hidden greed brought defeat to Israel until it was confessed and judged. God’s eye sees beneath the surface, exposing what man conceals.

Ananias and Sapphira (Acts 5:1–10): This couple pretended to give all to God, but secretly kept part back. Peter, filled with the Spirit, exposed their deceit—not because of the money withheld, but because of the lie told to the Holy Ghost. Grace is not fooled by pretense; God still searches hearts and reveals truth.

Before God, we cannot hide. But if we seek Him sincerely, He will be found of us. The same Lord who exposes our hearts also offers cleansing when we confess them. Grace reveals in order to restore.
