Ezekiel 9:7-8 reveals the Lord bringing Ezekiel to a hidden “hole in the wall,” exposing chambers of secret idolatry. What men hid, God uncovered.
“Woe unto them that seek deep to hide their counsel from the LORD…” — Isaiah 29:15
Hidden sin always becomes open shame. What we try to bury, God uncovers—not to destroy us, but to call us to repentance before judgment falls.
God took Ezekiel step-by-step deeper into the temple, not to discourage him, but to reveal how far the people had drifted. The deeper he went, the darker it became. Hidden sin grows in secret rooms. Isaiah says men “seek deep” to hide their counsel—digging themselves into spiritual graves while imagining God cannot see. But the Lord always sees.
He exposes not to humiliate, but to heal. He uncovers not to crush, but to cleanse. The believer must learn to keep no “chambers” the Lord cannot enter. Victory begins the moment we open the hidden rooms to His light.
Achan (Joshua 7:1–26). Achan buried his sin under a tent. He thought the dirt could hide what God already saw. His secret brought defeat to the whole nation. When exposed, he lost everything. Secret sin spreads sorrow wider than we think and ends in unavoidable exposure.
Ananias and Sapphira (Acts 5:1–11). They tried to hide part of the price, pretending deeper devotion than they possessed. Peter said they “lied to the Holy Ghost.” God exposed it instantly. Hypocrisy hides nothing; God judges secret motives as clearly as open actions.
Don’t let the enemy convince you that secret sin can stay hidden. Bring every chamber of your heart into the Lord’s light. What we uncover in repentance, God covers in mercy. What we refuse to uncover, God will reveal in judgment.
