“The Spirit of God hath made me, and the breath of the Almighty hath given me life.” — Job 33:4

“For the law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus hath made me free from the law of sin and death.” — Romans 8:2

From the beginning, life has always been God-given. Elihu reminds us that every breath we take is a gift from the Almighty — not earned, not manufactured, but graciously breathed into us by God Himself. That same Spirit who formed life in us physically is the One who grants life spiritually. We were born by the breath of God, and we are born again by the Spirit of God.

Paul declares that this Spirit not only gives life, but liberty — freedom from the bondage of sin and death. In Christ, the Spirit who once animated our lungs now liberates our souls. What breath is to the body, the Holy Ghost is to the believer’s spiritual life. Without Him there is suffocation; with Him, there is freedom, vitality, and spiritual strength. Let us daily walk conscious of this divine breath — grateful for physical life, and rejoicing in spiritual liberty in Christ Jesus.

Ezekiel and the Valley of Dry Bones (Ezekiel 37:1-10). Israel was like a valley of dry bones — lifeless, hopeless, and beyond human recovery. Yet when God’s Spirit breathed upon them, bones came together, flesh covered them, and life surged back into them. This shows that only the Spirit of God can bring true life, revival, and restoration.

Pentecost (Acts 2:1-4). The disciples were fearful and waiting, but when the Holy Spirit came like a rushing mighty wind, they were filled with boldness, power, and life. A church hiding became a church preaching. A fearful people became a fearless witness. The same Spirit who breathed life in Job, and freedom in Romans, filled believers with power to live and speak for Christ. If God gave you breath for life, don’t live like you’re still chained in sin. Breathe deeply of His grace and walk in the liberty of His Spirit today.
