“Then was the secret revealed unto Daniel in a night vision. Then Daniel blessed the God of heaven.” — Daniel 2:19
“The secret of the LORD is with them that fear him; and he will shew them his covenant.” — Psalm 25:14
God does not reveal His secrets to the careless or the casual but to those who live in close communion with Him. When Daniel sought the face of God in prayer, Heaven answered with revelation. The mysteries of the kingdom are not given to the proud, but to the humble who fear the Lord. The word “secret” in both passages speaks of intimate counsel—God’s personal communication to those who walk in reverence and faithfulness.
Daniel didn’t discover the secret through intellect or influence; it came by intercession and intimacy. Likewise, those who fear the Lord walk in His light, while those who disregard His Word walk in darkness. God whispers His will to those who wait upon Him in worship and obedience.
Abraham the Friend of God (Genesis 18:17–19): Before judgment fell on Sodom, God said, “Shall I hide from Abraham that thing which I do?” Abraham’s friendship with God made him a recipient of divine secrets. He interceded for Lot because he understood the heart of God. Those who live in holy fear and friendship with God are entrusted with divine insight.
John the Beloved (John 13:23–26; Revelation 1:1): At the Lord’s Supper, John leaned upon Jesus’ breast and heard what others did not. Years later, the same disciple received the Revelation of Jesus Christ on the Isle of Patmos. Proximity to Christ produces revelation. The secret of the Lord is with those who love and fear Him.
When we live in prayerful humility and godly fear, the Lord reveals His truth, His timing, and His tender mercies to us. The path to divine revelation is not through reasoning but through reverence. As Daniel blessed the God of heaven, may we also thank Him that the same Spirit who revealed secrets then still speaks to hearts that are surrendered today. “The secret of the LORD is with them that fear him; and he will shew them his covenant.” — Psalm 25:14
